Access SSL Proxmox Virtual Environment

Activate your account

Create a ticket (helpdesk.eee.upd.edu.ph) or email support (support@eee.upd.edu.ph) requesting access to the SSL Proxmox environment. Include in your request the email addresses of your groupmates and your capstone group number (e.g., SSL8).
Please wait for the email confirming your account activation before proceeding.

Connecting the EEEI Network

If you are inside the EEEI Building, you do not need to connect to the VPN.  Instead, connect through eduroam  (Using eduroam) using the certificate provided by UP EEEI and your EEE account credentials . 
If you are outside the campus, connect through EEEI VPN  (Using EEEI VPN)

Logging in to the Proxmox Virtual Environment

  1. Once your account is activated, access the Proxmox VE through your web browser at https://10.158.1.26:8006/

  2. Login using your EEE account credentials

    1. User name is your EEE email address without the @eee.upd.edu.ph, only your <firstname>.<lastname>

    2. Password is the same as what you use for your EEE email account.

    3. Realm choose eee.upd.edu.ph




Uploading ISO in Proxmox VE

  1. Go to the left panel. If the view is ‘Server View’ go to Datacenter > compute1 > compute1-images (compute1). If it is ‘Folder View’ go to Storage > compute1-images (compute1)


  1. Go to ISO Images and then select Upload



Creating VMs in Proxmox VE

  1. On the upper right corner, select Create VM

  2. Under General select:

    • Node: compute1

    • VM ID: [ID number automatically generated]

    • Name: [Name of your VM]

    • Resource Pool: Select your assigned pool - You must NOT leave this field empty





  1. Under OS,

    • Select Use CD/DVD disc image files (iso)

      1. Storage: compute1-images

      2. ISO image: select the iso file you would like to install

      3. Leave everything else to their default values






  1. Under System,

    • Firmware

      1. BIOS: Select Default (SeaBIOS) if your OS requires BIOS, select OVMF(UEFI) if it requires UEFI boot. Note: Home-Assistant-OS requires UEFI Boot

      2. Uncheck: Add EFI Disk






  1. Under Disks

    • Disk

      1. Bus/Device: VirtIO Block

      2. Storage: compute1-images

      3. Disk size (GiB): may vary depending on your needs, recommended: 50GiB

      4. Format: QEMU image format

      5. Leave everything else to their default values






  1. Under CPU, 

    • Cores: may vary depending on your needs, recommended: 2 cores

    • Leave everything else to their default values






  1. Under Memory,

    • Memory (MiB): may vary depending on your needs, recommended: 4096




  1. Under Network,

    • Bridge: Leave the Default bridge

    • Uncheck: Firewall





  1. Press Confirm

  




Starting VMs in Proxmox VE

  1. To start and view a VM, navigate to Datacenter > Compute1 > [VM Name] 

    1. Right click on the VM  > Start

    2. Left on the VM > Console
