4. Creating VMs in Proxmox VE

Note: This feature is available exclusively to users who have requested permission to create their own VMs. If you have not made a request, kindly proceed to "5. Starting VMs in Proxmox VE".

Creating VMs in Proxmox VE

  1. On the upper right corner, select Create VM

  2. Under General select:

    • Node: gigabyte02

    • VM ID: [ID number automatically generated]

    • Name: [Name of your VM]

    • Resource Pool: Select your assigned pool - You must NOT leave this field empty



  3. Under OS,
    • Select Use CD/DVD disc image files (iso)

      1. Storage:  gigabyte02  -images

      2. ISO image: select the iso file you would like to install

      3. Leave everything else to their default values



  4. Under System,
    • Firmware

      1. BIOS: Select Default (SeaBIOS) if your OS requires BIOS, select OVMF(UEFI) if it requires UEFI boot. Note: Home-Assistant-OS requires UEFI Boot

      2. Uncheck: Add EFI Disk



  5. Under Disk
    • Disk

      1. Bus/Device: VirtIO Block

      2. Storage: compute1-images

      3. Disk size (GiB): may vary depending on your needs, recommended: 50GiB

      4. Format: QEMU image format

      5. Leave everything else to their default values



  6. Under CPU,
    • Cores: may vary depending on your needs, recommended: 2 cores

    • Leave everything else to their default values



  7. Under Memory
    • Memory (MiB): may vary depending on your needs, recommended: 4096



  8. Under Network,
    • Bridge: Leave the Default bridge

    • Uncheck: Firewall



  9. Press Confirm
